At altitudes above 3,000 metres, Himalayan winters are harsh and unforgiving. For many families in Solukhumbu, adequate warm clothing is a matter of survival. The Himalayan Sherpa Family Trust runs annual winter clothing drives to ensure the most vulnerable community members are protected from the cold.
What We Distribute
Each drive distributes warm jackets, trousers, hats, gloves, scarves, and thermal underlayers to students and families identified as most in need. Priority is given to young children, elderly individuals, and those in the most remote and high-altitude settlements.
Ang Dawa's Personal Involvement
Ang Dawa Sherpa is a Member of Lions Club International and Honorary Member of the Rotary Club of Boudha (2022–23) — both organisations actively engaged in community welfare and humanitarian support across Nepal. Through these networks, winter clothing drives reach families across Solukhumbu and Kathmandu Valley communities.
Community Partnership
Clothing drives are carried out in partnership with local school leaders and village elders who help identify recipients and coordinate distributions — ensuring that support reaches those who need it most, with dignity and fairness.
